Hey UM fans, Campus Den will be in The House! The Big House, that is. We love college football and we want to help all you UM fans support the Maize and Blue with great UM apparel, rivalry gear, flags and more spirited UM accessories at all the UM Home Games in Ann Arbor.

If you are one of the 106,201 people in the stands of the newly renovated Michigan Stadium, or one of many more tailgaters, stop by the Campus Den stands to pick up all your UM gear!

Our 3 locations are:

1. Near Stadium and Main Street, next to Wireless Toyz.
2. At the corner of Keech and Main Street, across from the North-West corner of the stadium.
3. On Hoover Street at the railroad tracks, near the band practice field.

Big Ten game-day traditions: Michigan

A trip to Ann Arbor is a must for any die-hard college football fan, even in these tough times for the Maize and Blue. Michigan Stadium is one of the sport's most famous venues, and the atmosphere around the Big House is top notch.

Michigan would like to restore its most famous game-day ritual -- winning -- in the 2010 season, but for now, let's look at some of the school's top traditions, as suggested by you…

•Touching the banner: Every college football fan worth his or her salt has seen Wolverines players and coaches race onto the field and jump to touch the "Go Blue: M Club Supports You" banner, as the marching band plays "The Victors." The tradition started in 1962.

•Seat for Fritz Crisler: For every home game, Michigan reserves one seat in the stadium for former head coach and athletics director Fritz Crisler. The tradition was started by legendary former coach Fielding Yost. All Michigan Stadium capacity figures have ended with 1, to honor Crisler. The seat's location is not revealed.

•The Wave: If Michigan has a game well in hand, the student section will start The Wave and go through a series of creative versions. They'll slow it down, speed it up and send two waves in opposite directions. In such a large stadium, it looks pretty cool.

•Tunnel Walk: There's only one way to enter the playing field at the Big House, and that's through the tunnel at the 50-yard line. Michigan's team entrance is certainly a sight to see.

•Temptation/The Hawaiian War Chant: The Michigan marching band has played these two percussion beats after games for four decades. The band also plays "Temptation" after the Wolverines' defense makes a third-down stop.

•Hail to the Victors: It's quite possibly the most famous fight song in all of college sports, and you'll hear it in and around Michigan Stadium throughout game days in the fall.

•Guarding the "M" on The Diag: During the week leading up to Michigan's rivalry game against Michigan State, fraternity members guard the block M at the center of The Diag on campus to prevent any vandalism.

•Victors' Walk: The tradition of players and coaches making a longer walk to the stadium began under Bump Elliott in the 1960s and continued during the early Bo Schembechler years. Current head coach Rich Rodriguez brought back the tradition in 2008, as the team makes a 200-yard walk to the stadium two hours before games.

MSU Preseason Camp Update

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State football team is in its third and final week of preseason camp. Prior to Tuesday's practice, Spartan head coach Mark Dantonio met with the media to give an update on the team. Dantonio talked about the battle at placekicker, the running game, and freshman William Gholston's move to defensive end.

On the battle at placekicker...
"I didn't think our guys kicked very well in the scrimmage (on Saturday). But yesterday, we kicked throughout practice, and they were 21-of-21 from all over the field. So yesterday was very, very good, and we'll look to continue to do that. Both of our guys (Dan Conroy andKevin Muma) are very capable.

"Based on the way they kicked yesterday, they're still even, but there's still a lot of football to played (before our first game). We're trying to make decisions...They both have to kick more consistently.

"It's tough to evaluate because they're both talented. And (Mike) Sadler is as well, he's just younger. He's just learning to kick off the ground for the first time competitively. He's (Sadler) somewhat in the mix, but right now, I'd say it's (between) those two (Conroy and Muma)."

On what he likes from the team during this preseason camp...
"Our chemistry is very, very good on this football team. I've continued to say leadership, and the work ethic is very good. We've been blessed with a limited amount of injuries. We've been a very healthy team thus far...No one has gone down with heat, so conditioning has been good all summer. Heat hasn't been a factor the past couple of days, so that's been a big positive for us. We've been able to practice our guys, and when you practice, you get better."

Finally! The 2010 NCAA Tournament is about to commence, and 2 of our favorite teams are in the hunt! We're excited to watch last year's runner up, The MSU Spartans hailing from East Lansing and the OU Golden Grizzlies from Rochester, as they play for the Championship! The month long March Madness battle for the title begins this week as our 2 home state favorites take the court vs. some of the other great teams from around the country!

The 2 Time Big Ten Champions, The MSU Spartans will take the court on Friday 3/19 at 7:20pm on CBS in round one of March Madness vs. The New Mexico State Aggies. MSU is looking to become the National Champions for the first time since 2000 and are looking to beat their second place finish last year! Let's Go Green!

Also on Friday the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies will play their first NCAA Tournament Game since 2005. 2005 is the only year the Grizzlies have made it to the tournament, and they lost in the first round. They will be taking on Pittsburgh Panthers who made it to the Elite 8 last year. Both teams will be looking for their first NCAA Final Four Bid and National Championship Title. Let's Go Grizzlies!

MSU and UM Basketball Status Report

Have you been too busy following the Olympics to keep up with the MSU and UM Basketball Teams? Here's what's been going down around the Big Ten during the past couple weeks.

There has been quite an uproar in the Big Ten Basketball standings this month as MSU lost 3 straight, losing their firm hold on the Big Ten Number One Spot. Not only did the Spartans lose three straight, unranked Illinois and No. 13 Ohio State each won five in a row, creating a three-team tie at the top of the Big Ten. Furthermore, No. 6 Purdue, after some early conference losses, is now just a half game behind. No. 11 Wisconsin is currently in fifth place, one game behind the leaders. Luckily, MSU has rebounded, winning several big games, including one at Penn State and is now back in the top spot in the Big Ten Conference.

Now onto the Wolverines...Michigan's DeShawn Sims paces the cluster of Big Ten scoring leaders with 20.9 points per game in Big Ten only contests. Manny Harris is also nearing another career milestone and needs just seven boards to become the 27th Wolverine to register 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in a career. He currently has 1,451 points and 493 rebounds and is the only Big Ten player to rank in the top 15 in points, rebounds, assists and steals in the conference. Teammate DeShawn Sims is also part of the exclusive listing with 1,358 points and 623 rebounds.

Big Ten Basketball Status Report

We’re smack dab in the middle of Collegiate Basketball Season, and with so many teams, games and news updates, it can be hard to keep up! For this blog post, we just wanted to list some Big Ten Conference Basketball highlights regarding three of our favorite basketball teams, Michigan, Michigan State & Ohio State, since there is something new on the court almost everyday.

Michigan Senior Forward DeShawn Sims earned the Big Ten Conference’s Player of the Week honor for the week of January 4-10, 2010. This Wolverine helped Michigan beat Penn State, scoring 25 points during the game and 17 points against Northwestern. He also became the 27th player in Michigan history to earn more than 1,300 career points.

In games played through January 10, 2010, The MSU Spartans currently holds the number one spot in the Big Ten Conference with a record of 13-3 overall and 3-0 in the Big Ten.

While the Ohio State Basketball Team endured a couple Big Ten Losses against Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota earlier this month, this week the Buckeyes honored the 1960 NCAA Championship Buckeyes in a 50 year anniversary Reunion Event.

MSU Is Headed To The Alamo Bowl

For the third straight year, the Michigan State Spartans are heading to a Bowl Game! On January 2, 2010 at 8pm CST MSU will face the Big 12's Texas Tech in the 2010 Valero Bowl at San Antonio's 65,000 seat Alamodome.

The 2010 game will be the 17th Valero Alamo Bowl and the first meeting between Michigan State and Texas Tech on the football field. Since 1995, the Alamo Bowl has matched the Big Ten and the Big 12 Conferences and has produced eight of the Top 25 most-watched games in ESPN bowl game history.

The 6-6, 4-4 in the Big Ten, MSU Spartans are making their their second Alamo Bowl appearance as they take on the 8-4, 5-3 in the Big 12, Texas Tech Red Raiders, who are making their third Alamo Bowl appearance.

Both teams hold a losing record in the Alamo Bowl, MSU losing their first Alamo Bowl Game in 2003 vs. Nebraska. The Texas Tech Red Raiders hold a 0-2 Record in the Alamo Bowl.

MSU will play short handed, due to the off-the field turmoil that has been occurring since eight MSU players were suspended and two were dismissed from the team because of a November 22, 2009 fight between Fraternity Members at a campus residence hall.

The Third Sunday in November is quickly approaching, and we know everyone is preparing for one of the most exciting games in the Big Ten- The Michigan vs. Ohio State Game!

Michigan is looking to avenge last year's disappointing 42-7 loss against their rivals from Columbus, and score their first win against the Buckeyes since 2003. But Ohio State will be looking to keep their longest winning streak in the history of the rivalry going for a 6th straight year. UM has home field advantage at The Big House in Ann Arbor, and they have played well this season at home.

Check out some of these interesting Michigan vs. Ohio State rivalry facts to help get you pumped for this year's battle between the longtime rivals, the Wolverines & Buckeyes:

*The First UM/OSU game took place in 1897 resulting in a 34-0 UM Win!
*UM Boasts the largest victory over OSU, 86-0 in 1902!
*Michigan currently leads the overall series 57-42-6
*Since 1935, UM & OSU have decided the Big Ten Conference Championship between themselves on 23 different occasions
*The 10 Year War refers to the Woody Hayes & Bo Schembechler Coaching Rivalry between 1969-1978. Schembechler won the war with a record of 5–4–1 against Hayes.
*In 2000, ESPN Named The UM/OSU Rivalry the greatest North American sports rivalry
*In 2006, the OSU& UM held the #1 and #2 spots in the BCS both with 11-0 records. This game decided who would play for the BCS Championship. OSU won the game 42-39.

This Saturday the 102 year old rivarly between Michigan & Michigan State will take center field at Spartan Stadium as the 2 teams battle for victory and bragging rights! Join Campus Den at our Meridian Mall Location for even more Game Day Fun! Starting Friday, Oct. 2 at 10am and continuing on all day on Saturday Oct. 3, Campus Den will be transformed into the best tailgate in town. Big trucks, free tailgate food, and contests galore will entice fans of all ages to come by and shop for their favorite team gear and watch with fellow fans on big HDTV's!

This Saturday the 1-3 Spartans will be looking to defeat the 4-0 Wolverines at home and turn their season around; while the maize and blue will be looking for a win on the road in hopes of 5-0, and of course avenge their loss to the Spartans last season.

Michigan currently holds the series record at 67-29-5. MSU's only real period of dominance in the series' history was from 1950 to 1969, where they went 14-4-2. The Wolverines hold long winning streaks of six (2002-2007), eight (1970-77), and 10 games (1938-49), and an 18-game unbeaten streak from 1916 to 1933, in series history.

But the coveted Paul-Bunyan Trophy is currently displayed at Spartan Stadium due to their 35-21 victory over the Wolverines in 2008, and this year they hope to keep it in their display case! The Paul Bunyan Trophy was first presented in 1953 to the winner of this annual game by then Michigan Governor G. Mennen Williams. The trophy is a four-foot-high wooden statue on a five-foot-high base, named after the mythical giant lumberjack Paul Bunyan to reflect the state's history as a major lumber producing State!
